Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using beGin, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use beGin. If you are under 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate account information
• Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access

User Content Ownership

You retain ownership of artwork and other content you create in beGin ("User Content"). We do not claim ownership of your User Content.

Licence Required to Operate the Service

By using beGin, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, transmit, and display your User Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the App — including sync, backup, AI-assisted features, and technical support. This licence ends when you delete applicable content or your account, subject to reasonable backup and retention periods.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use beGin for any unlawful purpose
• Upload or create content that infringes third-party rights
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
• Interfere with or disrupt the App or its servers
• Use automated means to access the App without our permission
• Circumvent subscription, AI Credit, or other usage limits

AI-generated Content Disclaimer

AI-assisted features may produce content that is inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. AI output is provided for creative and educational assistance only. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before relying on it. We do not guarantee the accuracy or suitability of AI output.

Subscription Plans

beGin offers the following subscription tiers. Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and are indicative:

• Free — NZ$0, 20 AI credits / month. Paged, Infinite Canvas & Document notes, study tools, iCloud note sync, local backup, Draw core tools.
• Pro — NZ$4.99/month or NZ$39.99/year, 300 AI credits / month. Adds beGin Cloud note sync, iCloud artwork sync, custom brushes & palettes, local version history.
• Pro+ — NZ$9.99/month or NZ$79.99/year, 1,000 AI credits / month. Adds cloud version history and complete backup packages.

Actual prices are displayed on the App Store purchase screen at the time of purchase and may vary by region, currency, and applicable taxes. Features included in each plan are described in the App.

AI Credit Limits

All plans include a monthly AI credit allowance. Credits are consumed when you use AI-assisted features:

• Standard text question — 1 credit
• Image / OCR recognition — 3 credits
• Handwriting answer check — 3 credits
• Generate practice questions — 2 credits
• Regenerate answer — charged as a new request

AI Credits:

• Are not currency and have no cash value
• Cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged
• Generally do not roll over to the next billing period unless the App states otherwise

Automatic Renewal

Paid subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store and renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your Apple ID account is charged upon confirmation of purchase and at each renewal.

Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel a subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's refund policies. We do not process refunds directly. To request a refund, contact Apple Support or use Apple's report-a-problem process.

Service Availability

We strive to keep beGin available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The App may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, network issues, or circumstances beyond our control. Features may change or be discontinued with reasonable notice where practicable.

Account Suspension

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or use the App in a way that harms other users or our services. We will provide notice where reasonably possible.

Account Deletion

You may delete your account from within the App. See our Account Deletion page for instructions and details about what data is removed.

Intellectual Property

beGin, including its design, code, branding, and documentation, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding except as necessary to use the App.

Disclaimer of Warranties

beGin is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will meet your requirements or operate without interruption or errors.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of beGin. Our total liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or NZ$100 if you have not made any payments.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW], without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that jurisdiction, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection law.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page. Your continued use of beGin after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
